Track Bikes
SANSKAR DUGGAL
Hello, I hope you enjoy this info page.
Track bikes will typically have a shorter reach, shallower fork rake and shorter
top tube than other bikes, to make them better at handling at speed. The bottom
bracket is also higher to give riders additional pedal clearance on banked
corners. Unlike the bikes used in road races, track bikes are pared down to the
basics. Also, these bikes have no brakes and just onne fixed gear, which requires
no shifting mechanism. Track bikes also have no rear flywheel, so you can’t slow
down or even stop by pedalling backward.
These bikes are meant for one thing and one thing only: track racing. They are
not meant for road riding.
Sure, you can take your track bike on the road if you want to, but it won't be an
enjoyable ride, and it may even be illegal in certain places because you have no
brakes.
